SYRACUSE — Police arrested a Roy man Monday in connection with a weekend shooting at a party that left another man hospitalized.
Antonio Ramirez, 22, was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of attempted murder. He shot a man in the chest during a party early Saturday that turned into a brawl when "people who weren't invited showed up," said Syracuse Police Lt. Tracy Jensen.
Police believe the fight near 1700 West and 2100 South in Syracuse may have been gang related, Jensen said. Although police detained about 10 people at the scene, the investigation has been hampered by the fact that many partiers fled the scene before officers arrived.
Police are still seeking information related to the shooting and believe more people may be involved, he said.
Jensen said Ramirez hid from officers and his family was uncooperative.
The victim, in his mid-20s, remained hospitalized Tuesday in stable condition, Jensen said.
As part of the Joint Criminal Apprehension Team, the U.S. Marshals Service assisted Syracuse police.
