MarGene Poulson Halvorsen

MarGene Poulson Halvorsen passed away April 12, 2010 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born to Alton M. Poulson and Velma Peterson Poulson on July 13, 1928 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She attended South High School and the University of Utah. On March 5, 1951 MarGene married Jack L. Halvorsen in the Salt Lake Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
MarGene will always be remembered for her beautiful and contagious laughter, her wonderful sense of humor, her stalwart determination and her lovely soprano voice. She was a loving and supportive wife, mother and grandmother. She had a gift for nurturing and kindness. She was a talented and meticulous homemaker and the love of her husband's eye. Jack and MarGene were always together making wonderful memories. She was an accomplished musician with a magnificent singing voice. MarGene was a member of the Tabernacle Choir for 21 years and also soloed with the choir. She was active in the LDS church throughout her life and served diligently in many church callings. She completed a 12-month mission with her husband in the Hawaii Honolulu Mission where she served in the Laie Temple. She also served as a worker in the Salt Lake Temple for two years. Her life exemplified her love for her family and the Lord.
MarGene is survived by her loving husband, Jack L. Halvorsen, children: Eric (Nancy) Halvorsen, Chris (Terri) Halvorsen, Mark (Lorie) Halvorsen and Greg (Cathryn) Halvorsen; siblings Phyllis Sims, Monte (Carolyn) Poulson and Jim (Joyce) Poulson; 17 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. MarGene was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Trevor Richard Halvorsen.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mount Olympus North Stake center located at 4176 South 3930 East, Salt Lake City, Utah. A viewing will be held Thursday, April 15, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary located at 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah, and also one hour prior to services at the church.
