Robert S. Wilson
1923 ~ 2010
Robert S. Wilson, 87, of Lehi, passed away on April 12, 2010. He was born on January 14, 1923 in Lehi, Utah, the son of Fredrick Carlton and Irene Smout Wilson.
He graduated from Lehi High School in 1941. Bob married his sweetheart Ruby Carson in November of 1942 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Then a few short days after his marriage he was drafted to serve in World War II. He served in the Army Air Corp as a B-17 Bomber Pilot. He was shot down over Germany and held as a POW for a year. He was a major in the National Guard where he served for many many years flying planes and helicopters, which he loved. He also loved to spend time with his family hunting and fishing.
Bob worked at Tooele Army Depot for several years, owned a Texaco Service Station and served as the Maintenance Supervisor for Alpine School District. He was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many callings. Bob and his wife, Ruby, served an LDS Mission to Rochester, New York. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife Ruby, children, Clint B and Billie Wilson, James D and Wendy Wilson, Lane E and Janene Wilson, Brooke and John Cannon, Denice Jeppsen, 26 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren and brother Ned Wilson. Preceded in death by his son Robert C. Wilson, grandson Troy Wilson, brothers, Max Wilson and Gene Wilson, sisters, Betty Hall and Carlyn Bergquist.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 16, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. in the Lehi East Stake Center, 1200 East 900 North. Family and friends may call Thursday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at Wing Mortuary, 118 East Main, Lehi and one hour prior to the services at the Stake Center. Interment, Lehi City Cemetery.
