SOUTH JORDAN (AP) — Utah is getting its first dental school.

The University of Southern Nevada broke ground Wednesday on a $23 million dental school at South Jordan's RiverPark, where it has operated a school of pharmacy since 2006.

School president Harry Rosenburg says he hopes to capture some of the more than 160 Utah graduates who leave the state each year to pursue a degree in dentistry.

Tuition will run around $50,000 a year.
