OGDEN — Police believe thieves who made off with some expensive tires Tuesday morning first tried to rob Firestone Tires.

Just before 4 a.m., police say burglars broke into Firestone Tires, 1357 Washington Blvd., and loaded tires into a vehicle belonging to the business. Police believe the burglars were unable to locate the keys to that vehicle and left without the tires, said Ogden Police Lt. Dave Tarran.

At 4:18 a.m., witnesses reported to police that a vehicle had crashed into the Tire Distribution Systems business at 1690 Wall Ave., which is four blocks away from Firestone. When police arrived on scene, they realized a similar scenario occurred in which burglars broke into the business and loaded up a company vehicle with tires — at least three 17-inch Yokohama tires in this case.

Police are still looking for the suspects. Anyone with information should contact police at 801-629-8221.
