The 2010 Utah Heritage Awards for Restoration and Renovation recognize projects, organizations and individuals that exemplify excellence in historic preservation.
"The winners reflect the variety of projects throughout Utah which are being undertaken and beautifully executed to showcase our past while being preserved for the future," says Kirk Huffaker, executive director of the Utah Heritage Foundation.
Awards will be presented April 30 and will go to:
Lucybeth Rampton Award: Architects Wallace N. Cooper and Allen D. Roberts, for lifetime achievement.
Individual: Forest McNabb of Big D Construction, for work on numerous projects including the Oquirrh School and Hansen Planetarium, now the home of O.C. Tanner.
Stewardship: Jack and Jodi Livingood, for renovation of the 1919 Howard J. McKean residence in Federal Heights.
Organization: Residents of the Liberty Wells neighborhood for their grass-roots work to stop demolitions.
Governmental agency: St. George, for restoration of the St. George Town Square.
Stabilization, Restoration and/or Renovation: Central Utah Project, for preservation of the Red Butte Reservoir Valve House.
The City of South Jordan, for the Samuel and Geneva Holt Farmstead.
O.C. Tanner, for restoration of the Packard Library/Hansen Planetarium.
The University of Utah, for restoration of the John R. Park building.
Adaptive Use: Sixth and Sixth LC, for its revitalization of 1907 William E. Naylor home.
The Children's Center, for renovation of Oquirrh School.
