NEW YORK — Rapper DMX says he's been ripped off for years by a company hired to collect his song royalties, but he's been behind bars so much that he only recently realized the problem.

The platinum-selling hip-hop artist sued Rich Kid Entertainment 1 and related companies Monday in a Manhattan court. He's seeking at least $1 million in damages.

The rapper says the companies paid him nothing while collecting royalties on some of his most popular work.
