MORRISTOWN, N.J. (AP) — A mother of three who has multiple sclerosis and uses a wheelchair is accused of fatally shooting her husband inside their northern New Jersey home.
Morris County Prosecutor Robert Bianchi said Sunday that 44-year-old Amalia Mirasola has been charged with homicide and a weapons offense. Her 43-year-old husband, Carl, was found mortally wounded inside their Butler home Saturday.
Relatives say the couple were planning to end their 19-year-marriage.
Amalia Mirasola remains in the county jail on $1 million bail. Her lawyer, Robert Stack, says she has no memory of what happened.
The couple's three children were home at the time of the shooting, but police would not say whether they witnessed it.
