Utahns asked to give to veterans charities

SALT LAKE CITY — This Memorial Day, the state departments of Commerce and Veterans Affairs are asking Utahns who honor veterans to consider donating to veterans groups, and to make sure the charitable organizations are legitimate.

By visiting a new dedicated section at www.consumerprotection.utah.gov, donors can determine if a veterans charity is registered with the state and help ensure that donated funds will go where the need is greatest.

People also can call the Utah Division of Consumer Protection at 801-530-6601 to check on a charity or fundraising organization.
