Red Butte Garden is hosting a plant sale for members only on May 7, 3-8 p.m., and for the public on May 8, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. A wide variety of plants will be offered, including herbs, specialty annuals, vegetables (including heirlooms), unusual sun and shade perennials, ornamental grasses, and native and drought tolerant plants, trees, vines, shrubs and roses.

In addition, representatives from several local plant societies will answer your gardening questions. For more information, go to www.redbuttegarden.org.

Wasatch Community Gardens' annual plant sale is set for May 8, 8 a.m.-1 p.m., at Rowland Hall, 720 S. Guardsman Way. The sale will feature a wide range of unique, flavorful, heirloom vegetable, flower and herb seedlings you can't find anywhere else.

The Utah Iris Society will host a free iris show at the Sugarhouse Garden Center, 1602 E. 2100 South, May 8, noon-5 p.m. For more information, go to www.utahirissociety.org.

Thanksgiving Point is offering several gardening classes in May:

Best plants for Utah landscapes, taught by Larry Sagers, Tuesdays, May 11-25, from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m., $40.

Flower-bed design, taught by Larry Sagers, Tuesdays, May 11-25, 2-4:30 p.m. or 6-8:30 p.m., $40.
