SALT LAKE CITY — Two men were arrested early Wednesday after police say they stole a pickup truck, rammed an ATM into a building, then fled on foot leaving the truck stuck on the ATM.

About 3:30 a.m., police were called by a witness who could hear or see two men trying to ram the ATM, which sits in front of a Great Clips hair salon at 906 E. 900 South, said Salt Lake Police Sgt. Robin Snyder.

The men succeeded in breaking the machine off its mounts and ramming it through the store's front window but failed to get any money, Snyder said.

According to a police report, the truck became stuck on top of the ATM, prompting the men to flee on foot. Two suspects were caught a short distance away by police officers and a police dog, Snyder said.

The two men arrested, ages 56 and 33, from the Salt Lake area, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of possessing a stolen auto, destruction of property and theft.
