SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake Astronomical Society is continuing a 39-year tradition with its hosting of star parties and sun parties over the next five months.

Participants can look through three massive telescopes at the society's observatory at Stansbury Park for night-viewing events, and special solar telescopes offer safe views of the sun during daytime parties at Winchester Park in Salt Lake City.

Night parties will rotate among the Stansbury Park location, Wheeler Farm and Harmon's grocery stores in the Salt Lake Valley.

Events started in May and continue through October.

The next night party is June 18 at the Harmon's Midvale store, at 7755 S. 700 East.

More information can be found at or by calling the society at 435-882-1209.
