NEW HARMONY — A young New Harmony mother died Monday when her vehicle rolled over, landing upside down in a streambed.

Beth Donnelly, 24, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Washington County Sheriff's Chief Deputy Robert Torsigni.

Four children, including Donnelly's 2-year-old daughter, were treated for minor injuries at Valley View Medical Center in Cedar City and later released.

Donnelly was driving a sport utility vehicle on New Harmony's Pace Canyon Road when the vehicle "failed to navigate" a turn in the road, Torsigni said. The vehicle went off an embankment backward, flipping end over end before coming to rest on its top in a stream.

Torsigni said Donnelly was partially ejected and it is unclear if everyone was wearing seat belts.

Donnelly was apparently babysitting the three other children — two boys, ages 12 and 3; and another 2-year-old girl.
