SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake Convention and Visitors Bureau will give its highest honor — the Tourism Achievement Award — to the Salt Lake City Department of Airports and also to Valter Nassi of Cucina Toscana on Thursday.

"The Salt Lake City Department of Airports is an essential hospitality partner, championing Salt Lake as the perfect destination for recreation, tourism and conventions," according to Scott Beck, SLCVB president and chief executive officer.

The Italian-born Nassi came to Utah from New York in 1996 and has served as a key recruiter for conventions by providing fine dining.

"Valter loves what he does and it shows; his Old World elegance and savoir faire are rare anywhere," Beck said.
