"My name is JoLayne Kay Petersen, daughter of Jesse S. and Wanda Houghton Kay. I was born October 9, 1933 in Mona, Utah, grew up in Herriman, Utah, graduated from Jordan High School in 1951 and have now lived in Kearns for the past 55 years. I married Cloyd (Bud) Petersen January 24, 1955 in South Jordan, Utah; later solemnized in the Manti Temple in 1962. We have two sons: Kelly (Lenee), West Jordan, and Jeff (Lori) Petersen, Fairview; one daughter, Lisa (Todd) Funderburk, West Valley City; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren"

"I have been a member of Daughters of Utah Pioneers for many years. Currently I am the ward

organist which I have been for over 40 years. I've played for every organization in the church, choir, road shows, and many funerals. I loved music, loved to read and loved people."

JoLayne passed away June 5, 2010 of pneumonia and complications from radiation which she received for cancer in 1970. She was surrounded by her family who loved her so very much. We will miss her but are happy to see her out of pain and suffering.

Survivors include her three children; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; sister, Vicki (Larry) Swensen, West Valley City; sister-in-law, Ruth Yukish, Federal Way, WA; special aunt, Elsie Smith, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by her parents and brother, LaMar Kay.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 10, 2010, 11:00 a.m. at the Kearns 10th Ward, 5025 West 4865 South. Viewings will be held Wednesday, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Thursday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. Interment, South Jordan City Cemetery.
