CLEARFIELD — An armed man is still on the loose after robbing a Subway store in Clearfield, but witnesses say he did apologize.
Police are searching for a Caucasian man in his early 20s who walked into the Subway restaurant at 564 N. Main around 3:36 p.m. and showed employees a kitchen-style knife, demanding money from the register.
Employees told police the man was calm and said he was sorry for doing this but needed the money.
The man left the store with cash in his hands and ran east through the parking lot toward Days Inn. Employees say the man then turned down an alley that runs behind a nearby tire shop to Fern Drive. Witnesses on Fern Drive said they observed a red, possibly a Honda vehicle, leaving for the Bruce Street area nearby. The vehicle is described as having primer on the front passenger side fender as well as tinted rear windows.
The man is described as being about 5-feet 7-inches tall with a thin build, weighing between 125 and 140 pounds. Police say he had brown hair and brown eyes and was wearing a black zip-up hoodie with a logo on the left front chest area, a blue New York Yankees baseball hat with white lettering, blue jeans and dark-colored shoes.
Police believe the man also robbed a Baskin Robbins store in Clearfield last weekend.
