SALT LAKE CITY — The University of Utah Alumni Association is offering a new program to help U. graduates find jobs.

The program aims to make job coaches affordable for alumni, according to Julie Swaner, program manager of alumni career services.

"There are jobs out there, but now the environment is different," she said in a news release. "You can't just pick up the newspaper want ads and go apply for a job and expect to land it."

The program offers access to an online job board and specially tailored workshops, free with a membership to the Alumni Association. Membership is $40, with discounts for first- and second-year graduates; new graduates automatically get a free year.

Alumni career services also holds Job Club, a weekly networking and support group, every Friday, in Room 308 of the Student Services Building at the main U. campus in Salt Lake. The group is open to university employees.
