SALT LAKE CITY — A new scholarship aims to create opportunities for potential community leaders.

Mayor Ralph Becker's Office of Diversity and Human Rights will grant one Human Rights Commission Leadership Utah Scholarship to attend Leadership Utah, a Salt Lake Chamber-designed training program.

"Crucial issues must be met with effective leadership," said Yolanda Francisco-Nez, coordinator for the office. "This important scholarship gives emerging leaders an opportunity to learn from the best and, in return, refine individual skills to effectively serve underrepresented communities through human rights."
