Baptist church in Kearns hosts July Fourth party

KEARNS — New Pilgrim Baptist Church, 5133 S. Heath Ave., will host a free Fourth of July Neighborhood Block Party today, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The event will include free food, carnival games, live music and more. The public is welcome.

Israeli Scouts to perform at Gateway mall in S.L.

The United Jewish Federation of Utah will host the Tzofim (Israeli Scouts) "Friendship Caravan" in Utah, July 7-9 at the Gateway.

The participating teenagers were selected from a competition, and they sing and dance on tour in North America each summer as ambassadors of goodwill for Israel.

Benedictine sister to celebrate 60th jubilee

Interfaith orchestra plans to perform in Utah

The Temple Hill Symphony Orchestra will go on tour outside California for the first time this summer and perform three times in Utah.

Sponsored in part by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, it is a group of volunteer musicians (both members of the LDS Church and non-members) who are dedicated to providing great classical music to the public for free.

The orchestra will perform July 17 in the Assembly Hall on Temple Square; July 18 at the Ogden Amphitheatre, 2949 Washington Blvd., Ogden; and July 19 at the American Fork Amphitheatre, 851 E. 700 North, American Fork.

Organ festival slated at cathedral in Salt Lake

"Organ Fest III," part of a series to celebrate the 50th anniversary of KBYU radio (FM-89.1/89.5) is planned for Friday, Aug. 6, 8 p.m., at the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 309 E. South Temple.

This concert will feature three organists from the Salt Lake Tabernacle and one from the cathedral.

Tabernacle Choir and orchestra to perform

The Mormon Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square will perform in the annual Pioneer Day Commemoration Concert on Friday, July 16, at 7:30 p.m. in the Conference Center auditorium on Temple Square.

Organ staff and guest organists perform free 30-minute recitals in the Salt Lake Tabernacle on Temple Square from noon to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Sunday recitals are performed from 2 to 2:30 p.m. in the Tabernacle.

Catholic pilgrimage heading to Mexico

The Most Rev. John C. Wester, Catholic bishop of Salt Lake, will lead a pilgrimage Oct. 10-15 to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, the Tula Pyramids, Querétaro, Morelia, Guadalajara and the Tequila Express.

Women's Bible class to study book of Isaiah

A Bible Study Fellowship Day Women's Class is now accepting registration for its study of Isaiah, scheduled to begin in September at Holladay Baptist Church, 2780 E. 3900 South, on Wednesdays, from 9:10 to 11 a.m.
