SANDY — A popular Salt Lake County restaurant is expected to be closed three to four days while owners clean up after a fire.
Fire crews were called to Tiburon, 8256 S. 700 East, just after 8 a.m. Friday. They arrived to find a table and chairs inside the restaurant on fire, said Sandy Fire Battalion Chief Derek Maxfield.
"We knocked it down, confined the fire to the furniture," he said.
The restaurant was not open at the time. Maxfield would not speculate on a cause or even if the fire was suspicious. But a person who answered the phone at Tiburon Friday afternoon said it appeared to be a case of vandalism.
Maxfield estimated total damage to the furniture and the smoke damage throughout the restaurant at $10,000.
