OREM — A company started by two Westminster College graduates has blossomed over five short years and is now bringing in out-of-state capital to serve clients such as Dow Jones, Petco and PNC Bank.

In the past 18 months, HireVue has gone from two employees to 22 and, with new funding of $5 million, CEO Mark Newman hopes to hire up to 50 more in the next two years.

The new funding comes from previous investors such as JCP Capital, as well as Granite Ventures, based in San Francisco.

Just 26 years old, Newman jokes that his success comes from stubbornness and dumb luck. However, Newman believes that a video conferencing and interviewing product is a great way to help employers. The products his company creates are narrowly focused for employers, who spend between $500 and $1,000 per position filled.

The service is free to potential employees, who are mailed a Web camera if they don't already own one.

"It's a great time to be experimenting with stuff," Newman said.
