Alma Ruth McDonnell Walker, affectionately known as "Nickie", passed away at her home July 25, 2010. She was born June 28, 1927, in Coral Gables, Florida, the daughter of Lester V. and Elma Amelia Hirvela McDonnell. Nickie married Roy S. Walker in Detroit, Michigan on April 22, 1946. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple June 22, 1953.

Family was important to Nickie. She was a wife for 64 years, mother to five children, grandmother to 20 + three, 40 great-grandchildren -counting spouses - for a family total of 90! Her life had many accomplishments, including teaching early morning Seminary, Relief Society, Primary, YWMIA. Leadership skills were demonstrated serving as the Ward and Stake Primary President. Her professional skills were utilized when she graduated from nursing school as a RN at the age of 50.

Survived by her husband, Roy; children, Leslie Snow (Neil), Linda Black (Steve), Amy Dix (Robert), Sarah Mero (Joseph); many grand and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Robinson (Martha's husband, Bill remarried to Lisa); grandson, Aaron Dix; parents; three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. in the Bennion Utah LDS Stake Center, 6250 South 2200 West. A viewing will be held at the stake center on Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. and again on Wednesday from 9:00-9:45 a.m. Interment will take place in the West Weber Cemetery at approximately 2:00 p.m. www.goffmortuary.com
