PRICE — Two small tornadoes that damaged a trailer and knocked over some trees in Price were just the tip of the iceberg of stormy weather that hit eastern and southern Utah Monday.
Near Panguitch, vehicles became stuck along muddy roads close to the intersection where U.S. 89 meets state Route 12. National Weather Service meteorologists said S.R. 12 was closed until about 6 p.m. Monday while crews cleared the road where mud, water and debris had created problems.
Officials said another area on U.S. 89 near Marysville also experienced muddy roads and traffic was blocked for a couple miles around 2:30 p.m.
Meteorologists warn that for the next several days, people can expect a lot of moisture in the air and possible flash flooding in southern Utah. The weather will remain warm with a high of 93 on Tuesday and a low of 69 in Salt Lake City.
Bad weather also struck elsewhere in West, as authorities said two people were killed and another was injured Monday evening when a tornado touched down at a ranch in the far northeast corner of Montana.
