SALT LAKE CITY — After a short but tumultuous and expensive trip across one downtown street to make room for a new federal courthouse, the historic Odd Fellows Hall building is about to go on the auction block.

The U.S. General Services Administration spent about $6.7 million to get the three-story, 4 million pound masonry structure from the south side to the north side of Market Street last year. Along the way, the GSA, which oversees some $30 billion in federal assets, was briefly embroiled in a legal dispute that erupted in the middle of the moving process.

Now safely situated at its new address, the building on the National Register of Historic Places is up for sale.
