WOMEN'S GOLF: Utah Valley University women's golf coach Sue Nyhus has announced the Wolverines' 2010-11 golf schedule, which includes tournaments in seven different states.
"We are excited about our schedule this year," she said. "It allows us to compete all over the country on different types of golf courses, and this will benefit our players as they grow their games and prepare for our conference championship."
The Wolverines open the fall portion of their schedule when they travel north to the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Weber State University on Sept. 3. Last year, the UVU women finished second in the event.
Also in the month of September, UVU will play at the Bobcat Invitational in Bozeman, Mont., hosted by Montana State University on Sept. 7-8, and the Mountain Shootout on Sept. 20-21 at Forest Highlands Golf Club in Flagstaff, Ariz.
The Wolverines close out the fall at the Firestone Grill Invitational in Pismo Beach, Calif., on Oct. 4-5, and the Shocker Invitational at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Wichita, Kan., on Oct. 18-19.
Utah Valley has four tournaments in the spring beginning on Feb. 26-27 when the Wolverines tee it up at the Red Rocks Invitational in Sedona, Ariz., followed by a trip to Florida for the Northern Illinois University Snowbird Intercollegiate at Pebble Creek Golf Club in Tampa Mar. 17-18.
The Wolverines will have their final tune-up before the Great West Conference Championship at the Cowgirl Classic at Ocotillo Golf Course in Chandler Ariz., on April 4-5.
The GWC Championship is three weeks later at La Torretta Lake Resort in Montgomery, Texas, April 25-27.
