ALBUQUERQUE — The Southern California team started the day eight shots back at the Junior America's Cup golf tournament Wednesday at Isleta Eagle Golf Club. But the SoCal team sidestepped a weather delay and rocketed up the leaderboard, firing a 13-under-par team score of 200 to take a three-shot lead with a 10-under total of 416 after the second round.

Brian Jung of Coquitlam, B.C., posted a 1-under-par 70 Wednesday to hold the individual lead at 8-under par.

In the team chase, British Columbia was second at 419, followed by Alberta, Canada, at 423, Northern California 425, San Diego 428 and Idaho 430.

Utah was tied with Oregon for seventh place at 431, followed by Hawaii at 432 and Colorado and Washington, tied for 10th at 433 in the 17-team field.

Individually, Utah's Devon Purser was tied for 14th place at even-par 142 following a second straight 71. Jonathon Thomas was tied for 22nd place at 69-75—144, and Brandon Kida was tied for 25th at 75-70—145.
