OGDEN — Hart Ski Corp. has added its name to the list of ski companies pumping life into Ogden's economy.
The ski manufacturer announced Tuesday that it has moved its headquarters and distribution center from Wayzata, Minn., to 159 23rd St.
One published report said the move could result in five employees in Ogden by year's end.
"Hart is a brand that is well-known to longtime skiers," Ogden Mayor Matthew Godfrey said in a prepared statement. "We are thrilled to have them move to Ogden, as we believe the synergy of the cluster will be good for all of our other ski and outdoor companies.
"We can see significant jobs coming to the area as a result of their growth, and Hart hopes eventually to be building skis in Ogden," he said.
The company, in its 55th year, is the official supplier of the U.S. freestyle ski team, according to its website.
"In deciding to move to Ogden, our management team was very favorably impressed with the city's proactive business development environment and the city's commitment to helping our company grow," Hart CEO Chris Farni said in a prepared statement. "Having other recognizable ski industry companies located here also helps us attract ski industry business to the area. And Ogden is a great center for logistical distribution and support."
Other ski and snow sports companies that have added operations in Ogden during the past few years include Amer Sports, Goode Ski Technologies, Kahuna Creations, SnowSports Interactive, Nidecker Snowboards, Scott USA and Rossignol.
