LAYTON — A 16-year-old autistic boy who went missing Monday was found just 24 hours later at the Layton Hills Mall.

Layton police issued an endangered missing alert Tuesday for Daniel Recksiek, or "DJ," who was last seen by family members at his house at 2530 N. Valley View Drive in Layton, just east of U.S. 89, at about 5:30 p.m. Monday. Family members believe he took off on foot.

Layton police received a tip about the boy at the Layton Hills mall and found him riding someone else's bike around the parking lot. He was returned to his family safe and sound Tuesday night.
