GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Florida coach Urban Meyer believes the only way to stop agents and players from breaking NCAA rules is to punish them.

Meyer is one of several college coaches calling for harsher penalties for anyone involved in unscrupulous behavior that violates NCAA rules. Meyer says if there's no threat of discipline, then agents and players can just "have at it."

Alabama's Nick Saban helped organize a conference call with coaches, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, the NFL Players Association, athletic directors and agents. Meyer, Ohio State's Jim Tressel, Texas' Mack Brown and Oklahoma's Bob Stoops also were on the call.
