Resort remains open despite Forest Service closures in Moon Lake area

SHARE Resort remains open despite Forest Service closures in Moon Lake area

ASHLEY NATIONAL FOREST — The U.S. Forest Service area in the vicinity of Moon Lake is closed through Sept. 30, due to helicopter activity supporting high lakes stabilization in the High Uintas wilderness area.

However, the Moon Lake Resort remains open, and so does the Moon Lake Recreation Area.

The area being closed for public safety is located under the helicopter flight path that will be used to transport heavy equipment and unused supplies from work areas at Deer and East Timothy lakes in the Swift Creek Basin. This closure is needed because of the remote possibility of load detachment while in flight.

Swift Creek Basin has been closed under a separate closure order for the period that started May 3 and continues until Sept. 30.

During this closure period, the public is prohibited from going into or being upon the described area, being on any trail in the described area or being on any road in the area.

All roads and trails in the area are closed to public use for the specified time period.

For the exact location of the closed area, go to www.fs.fed.us/r4/ashley.
