SALT LAKE CITY — Firefighters are expecting to contain a 60-acre fire in Parleys Canyon by Tuesday night.
The fire, which has been burning near a police shooting range since Sunday, was about 70 percent contained by Tuesday morning, said Interagency Fire spokeswoman Jennifer Sullivan.
One Hotshot crew from Nevada remains on the scene to patrol the fire line, but all other crews have been released, Sullivan said. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused the blaze.
Another fire in the Mount Nebo Wilderness had burned about 200 acres by noon Tuesday, said U.S. Forest Service spokeswoman Loyal Clark.
Because of the rugged terrain, firefighters have had difficulty reaching the lightning-caused fire and are focusing on the lower area of the fire.
No structures have been damaged by either fire.
