SALT LAKE CITY — Three women, accused of possessing or selling drugs out of neighboring apartments where young children lived, were charged Friday.
Barbara Burton, 49, Donnie Burton, 48, and Tamice Alvarado, 29, all related, were charged with various drug-related offenses by the Salt Lake County District Attorney's Office in 3rd District Court. Barbara Burton faces additional counts of child endangerment.
Salt Lake City police served search warrants June 30 on neighboring apartments near 100 West and 1900 South. One apartment is where Barbara Burton lives with her two adult daughters, including Alvarado.
Alvarado's three children, all under the age of 10, and the other daughter's two children, also both under the age of 10, all live at the address, according to court documents.
Inside the apartment, investigators found small amounts of cocaine, marijuana, scales and drug packaging material inside the bedrooms, hallways and kitchen cabinets, according to court records.
In the second apartment, detectives found a small amount of methamphetamine in a cupboard above the stove and trace amounts of cocaine in a kitchen drawer.
