SANDY — The Family History Expo will be held Aug. 27 and 28 at the South Towne Expo Center, 9575 S. State, in Sandy.
Four free courses will be offered, in addition to more than 100 other family history classes, presented by more than 30 national and local speakers — as well as staff from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' Family History Library in Salt Lake City.
The four free coursesare The Joy of Family History: How to Inspire Members and Leaders; Meeting the Support Needs of the Family History Community; New Resources for Consultants, What They Are and Real Examples of How to Use Them; and Directing Indexing Efforts in Your Stake and Wards.
Classes offered range from beginner to advanced topics, and many are dedicated to the latest techniques and technologies being used in genealogical research.
Exhibitors from throughout the U.S. will teach about the latest products and services available for family history searching.
FamilySearch affiliated software vendors will also be available to help people test and understand https://new.familysearch.org. Showcased products and services will include genealogy magazines, hardware, software, wall charts, various genealogical societies and research services.
The free exhibit area is open to the public, and all who hold a family history calling, either at stake or ward levels, are welcome to attend any or all of the free training courses on Aug. 28.
Costs are $65 to participate in all classes both days, $40 for one day or $12 per individual class.
