I feel Marjorie Cortez's column on the proposed New York City mosque falls short ("Build the mosque to stand tall for freedom in U.S.," Aug. 24). The issue is location and the lack of sensitivity concerning the 9/11 incident, when more than 3,000 Americans lost their lives. People of New York as well as our country preach and practice religious freedom and have no objection to building a mosque so people of that faith can practice their respective religion. This has been the backbone of our freedoms that our forefathers developed in our Constitution and Bill of Rights. There are other locations where the Islamic center would better serve its members and would be welcomed in the community.
