COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Sky Sox scored eight runs in the third inning to snap a 1-1 tie and rolled to a 17-6 win over the Salt Lake Bees.
In the decisive third inning, the first 10 Colorado Springs batters reached base on six hits and four walks to break the game open.
Salt Lake starter Amalio Diaz (4-6) took the loss, as he allowed eight runs on seven hits and three walks. Barret Browning gave up four runs in three innings, Bobby Cassevah was touched for two runs in two innings and infielder Dwayne Bailey pitched the eighth inning and allowed three runs as the four Salt Lake pitchers combined to give up 19 hits and eight walks.
Mark Trumbo led the Bees with four hits, including two doubles, and an RBI, while Terry Evans added three hits, including a double, and scored two runs.
With the loss, Salt Lake has now dropped eight of its last nine games.
