George H. Merrill 1936 ~ 2010
Our beloved father and grand-father, George Harrison Merrill, passed away peacefully August 24, 2010 in Sandy, Utah. He was born January 15, 1936 in Garfield, Utah to Raymond Daniel and Dorothy Hoover Merrill. He married Gladys Dilley June 4, 1955; she died August 31, 1984. George worked construction all his life and retired as superintendant with Alder Construction. He enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and was a big football fan. Last year he was able to go skydiving for the first time. He was a past member of the Magna Lion's Club. He is survived by his children, Pamela R. Kokonis, Corinne Blackburn, Clayton G. (Brooke) Merrill, Monta (Terry) Vasquez, Derek D. (Tara) Merrill, and Kimberly K. Nasworthy; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sisters, Marilyn "Cookie" Coon and Gwen Arego. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, August 30, 2010 at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 W. 2700 S., where friends and family may call Monday 9-9:45 a.m. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
