PROVO — The No. 14-ranked BYU women's soccer team defeated in-state rival Weber State 5-1 Friday night, securing head coach Jennifer Rockwood's 250th career victory.
"It was a great win, obviously, with it being our first win at home," Rockwood said. "I'm glad all the fans were able to stick around even with the weather delay. The girls love playing in front of the crowd and definitely showed it tonight."
Sophomore Lindsi Lisonbee scored BYU's first goal of the match in the 28th minute following a ricochet off the post and an assist from junior Lauren Anderson.

The Cougars maintained possession for most of the game, holding the Wildcats to just two shots in the entire game. Weber State goalkeeper Ryann Waldmann, however, was kept busy all night, with BYU taking 23 shots on goal for the night. Waldmann had a season-high 12 saves.
BYU headed into the locker room at halftime holding the Wildcats to zero shots with a 1-0 lead.
"At halftime, we told the girls how well they had played in the first half and that they just needed to be patient with the ball," Rockwood said.
BYU added to the score early in the second half, with junior Jennie Marshall scoring on a cross from sophomore Carlee Payne in the 49th minute.
The Cougars continued their offensive dominance in the 60th minute, with Jessica Ringwood sending a cross over to Jennie Marshall for her second goal of the night.
Senior Kassidy Shumway got into the action with a goal of her own when Payne sent a ball from near the corner for the assist to put the Cougars up 4-0 in the 68th minute.
BYU's reserves were able to contribute as well, with junior Auna Janis-Doria adding her first goal of the season to put BYU up 5-0 late in the second half.
Weber State got on the board in the 82nd minute, with Victoria Anderson netting the Wildcats' only score on their first shot of game. Jessie Baddley added the Wildcats' second shot just moments later, but it was saved by BYU keeper Katherine Snyder.
Up next for the Cougars is a Tuesday, Aug. 31, match against Northwestern on South Field at 7 p.m.
GEORGIA 3, UTAH 0: At Athens, Ga., the University of Utah soccer team (0-3) fell to Georgia (1-1) Friday night by a 3-0 score. The Utes held the Bulldogs scoreless through the first half but were unable to respond after UGA broke the tie in the 50th minute of play.
Nicole Locandro scored the first goal and eventual game-winner for Georgia, one-timing a cross from Carli Shultis into the back of the net at 49:45.
The Bulldogs netted their second goal in the 78th minute amid some controversy, as the Utes thought play had stopped due to a foul flagged by the referee's assistant. The ball was still live, however, and Locandro played it into the box, finding Newfield for the tap-in to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 lead. The final Georgia goal came off the foot of Susannah Dennis, as she struck a one-time ball from about 10 yards out to finish off of the cross from Newfield less than a minute after the second goal.
Utah put up a solid defensive effort in the first frame but struggled to get the offense going. The Utes came out firing in the second half, forcing Georgia goalkeeper Ashley Baker to make some solid saves and come off her line on a few dangerous set pieces, but were just unable to find the goal. Senior forward Lauren Hair led the Utes with two shots on goal.
"I was really proud of our effort tonight against a really good Georgia team," said Utah head coach Rich Manning. "They really pushed us hard in the first half, and I thought we really pushed back in the second half.
"We had a lot of new players step up and we had some veterans playing new positions. I thought we were unlucky not to equalize after they scored. The turning point in the game was the goal on the foul that wasn't called, but that's just another lesson for us to learn from. We have a lot of things to work and we will bounce back and try to give a great effort against UNCG on Sunday."
Utah was outshot 20-12, with shots on goal going 10-5 for the Bulldogs. Utah took three corner kicks to Georgia's seven, while UGA committed 16 fouls to Utah's five. Junior goalkeeper Hannah Turpen made seven saves for the Utes, while Baker finished the game with five.
Utah gets back into action at the Georgia Nike Invitational on Sunday as the Utes take on UNC Greensboro (2-0) in a neutral-site contest at the UGA Soccer Complex.
TEXAS STATE 1, UTAH VALLEY 0: At El Paso, Texas, Utah Valley University came up on the short end of a 1-0 match vs. Texas State to open the 13th annual Miners' Classic on Friday afternoon.
The Wolverines (1-2-0) will next face host UTEP on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. MT.
"We were much better than we were last week at Utah State," said UVU head coach Brent Anderson. "I thought we did a pretty good job of limiting their dangerous attack. A lot the shots they had weren't great looks. Offensively, we didn't create a lot of attack but we were fairly accurate, there just wasn't enough of it."
The game was scoreless until the 70th minute when Britney Curry scored for the Bobcats for the lone goal of the contest.
Statistically, Texas State had a large edge in overall shots, 24-7, but on goal was a much more even number, 7-4, in favor of the Bobcats.
Hailey Brown had three saves in goal for UVU in 45 minutes played in the first half. Lauren Sack had three second-half saves while four different Wolverines each had a shot on goal.
Texas State keeper Lauren Frazier gets credit for the shutout, recording four saves while logging all 90 minutes in goal.

BENEDICTINE COLLEGE 1, WESTMINSTER 0: At Salt Lake City, the Westminster men's soccer team came up short in an attempt to defeat two top 10-ranked teams in consecutive days. The 10th-ranked Benedictine College used goal on a penalty kick in the 11th minute to help them escape Dumke Field with a 1-0 victory on Friday.
The loss came one day after the Griffins defeated No. 2 The Master's College and drops Westminster to 1-1 on the season.
Westminster forced the issue in the second half, attempting 10 shots and forcing the opposing keeper into nine total saves. With a steady rain falling, the Griffins just couldn't find the back of the net and lost at Dumke Field for just the eighth time in history.
Dennis Sellis led all players with four shot attempts and putting three on frame. Nic Duncan posted three shots, while Damian Malouf and Spencer Luczak took two shots apiece. Nathan Young made three saves between the pipes in suffering the defeat.
Westminster will return to action on Sept. 3 when they welcome Northwestern (Iowa) to Dumke Field for a 5 p.m. kickoff.
