It's nearly impossible for me to describe my feelings toward John and Barb Dombek's ode to President Barack Obama ("Obama defends freedom," Reader's Forum, Aug. 24). Like the man they praise, the tribute was overwhelming and elegant, yet lacked substance. I believe that Obama was not wrong to advocate the mosque at ground zero and that the commander in chief believes in First Amendment rights. However, I cannot pay tribute, as do the Dombeks. The national debt continues to rise exponentially (currently nearing $13.5 trillion), and this man has done nothing but bail out banks, weaken America abroad and expand government during his 20 months in office. My religion advises me to stay out of debt, and I share the same opinion when it comes to Obama and Uncle Sam. My gut advises me to stay away from Obama. And that I will.
