Toney loses to Couture in MMA debut
BOSTON — Five-time Ultimate Fighting Championship titleholder Randy Couture defeated former boxing champion James Toney by submission in the first round of a heavyweight bout at UFC 118 Saturday at the TD Garden.
With Couture holding Toney in a head triangle, Toney tapped out at 3:19 of the first round.
Couture is now 19-10. This was Toney's first MMA bout. He had began training for MMA nine months ago.
Franchitti prevails in Chicago Indy race
JOLIET, Ill. — Dario Franchitti's pit strategy gamble paid off, helping him to win a frantic IndyCar series race at Chicagoland Speedway on Saturday night.
It was a tough night for series points leader Will Power, who was running among the leaders when he abruptly went to pit road for an extra fuel stop with five laps left in the race. He finished 16th.
Ravens' WR Stallworth breaks foot
BALTIMORE — Ravens wide receiver Donte' Stallworth broke his foot in Saturday night's game against the New York Giants and will probably be sidelined for two months.
It is unclear when the injury occurred, but it likely occurred during one of Stallworth's three punt returns. He saw limited time on offense and did not catch a pass.
