Paul Curtis Rowland passed away August 5, 2010 at his home in Covered Bridge Canyon, Utah.The son of Margaret and Glenn Rowland, Paul was born March 18, 1957 in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. After spending the first six years of his childhood living in Salt Lake City's East Millcreek neighborhood, the Rowland family moved to Provo. Paul attended Wasatch Elementary, Farrer Junior High, and Provo High School. At 18-years-old, Paul moved to Portland, Oregon with a friend and loved it so much that he stayed for the next 24 years. Soon after arriving in Portland, Paul met his beautiful wife, Janna. They were married June 6, 1981. The two began building a life together in Oregon. On April 7, 1987, Paul and Janna excitedly welcomed their new baby boy, Berk Curtis, into their family. In 1999, the family moved to Utah. Paul loved the great outdoors. He was happiest when he was camping, fishing, and spending time with his family, playing catch with his son or teaching him how to fix things around the house. Paul and his son were the best of friends. Paul was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had a genuinely kind heart and helped people feel special and important. Paul is survived by his loving wife, Janna French Rowland, and son, Berk Rowland, who both cared for him tirelessly as he struggled with complications related to liver failure. He is also survived by his father, Glenn Rowland; a brother, Brent (Naidra) Rowland; sisters, Carol (Jeffrey) Stephens; Terye (Vince) Davis, and Stephanie (Russel) Mott. Paul was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Rowland on March 8, 2010; father-in-law, Delmar French; grandparents; and niece, Dacia Rowland. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Canyon Ward, 3477 E. Riverbottoms Road, Spanish Fork, Utah. Friends and loved ones are invited to greet the family prior to the service between 9:45 and 10:45 a.m. The interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.
