Bertha Midgley O'Reilly 1917 ~ 2010
Bertha Midgley O'Reilly was born on April 26, 1917 in Bountiful, Utah, and died on August 25, 2010 at the age of 93 in St George, Utah. She was the ninth and last surviving child of 13 children born to Leroy Park and Lucy Edith Thurgood Midgley.She married Michael Francis O'Reilly Jr. on June 27, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Bertha was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many church callings and was particularly active in genealogical research and was an avid collector of various memorabilia of historical interest. She was a member of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, East Mill Creek-Neff Camp and served as the instructor in that camp for 12 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and seven sisters, her husband Michael, a daughter Robynn Diane O'Reilly Jordan, and a son John Timothy O'Reilly. She is survived by sons Michael Francis O'Reilly III and Akanesi Lupe of St George, Utah, Daniel Gray O'Reilly of Grand Junction, Colorado, and a daughter Kathleen Virginia O'Reilly of Orem, Utah. She is grandmother to 27 grandchildren, 67 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. The family expresses their gratitude and thanks to Southern Utah Home Care and Hospice and the many family members and friends who kept in touch with Bertha these past several months. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the Holbrook Mortuary, 3251 South 2300 East, where friends may visit with the family at the Mortuary on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and also on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. prior to the services.
