Charles Eldon Hunt 1922 ~ 2010
Charles Eldon Hunt, age 88, died on August 26, 2010 after a short illness in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born April 30, 1922, in Salt Lake City, to Charles Quayle Hunt and Josie Marie Holladay. He attended South High School and graduated from the University of Utah. He served a mission to the Eastern States in 1942. While working in Washington D.C. for the board of health as a microbiologist, he met his sweetheart, Virginia Saunders. They were married May 25, 1950 in the Salt Lake Temple. He worked for the City-County Health Department in Salt Lake until his retirement in 1980. He loved music and played the piano, accordian and clarinet. He would sit and listen to big band music by the hour. He loved to take his kids and grandkids waterskiing and camping. He and Virginia traveled to almost every country in the world. They served a mission to Hungary, headquartered in Vienna, Austria in 1983-1984, which was a highlight in his life. He was a beloved athletic coach, scout leader, and a grandpa to all the children in his ward. He served in the bishopric and ward clerk for many years after the death of his wife. He loved to grow roses, flowers and sweet corn. Although less than five feet seven inches tall, he lived a big life, "for by small and simple things are great things brought to pass." Eldon is survived by his son, Steven Hunt and wife Patricia; his daughter, Marsha Buccambuso and husband Terry; and his sister Joyce Schultz and husband Jack. His grandchildren are: Karen and Renn Lambert, Scott and Maggie Buccambuso, Brad and Lisa Buccambuso, Christie and Mark Taylor, Mark Buccambuso, Brian and Tiffany Hunt, Anne and Eric Gardiner, Tyson Hunt, Jeff Buccambuso, and Jason Hunt. He has five darling great grandchildren. Services for Eldon will be held, Wednesday, September 1, 2010, at the Foothill Third Ward Building on 1933 S. 2100 E. at 12 noon. A viewing will be held at 10 a.m. prior to services. In lieu of flowers, we'd love a note with a memory of Eldon to add to his life story.
