FOOTBALL: Summer is nearly over for the Red Storm as they will check in for the start of fall practices later this week.
Although a good number of players have already been spotted on campus and in the community, 108 players are expected to officially report to camp at designated times on Thursday and Friday afternoon and will get their equipment and team playbooks in preparation for the start of fall workouts on Saturday evening at 8.
After filling out some NCAA required paperwork and receiving other welcomes, the players will then undergo agility testing and run a 300-yard shuttle later in the afternoon before having more team meetings in the evening.
They will then hit the practice field again in earnest on Sunday at 6 a.m.
On Aug. 9 and 10 at 8 p.m. the Red Storm will conduct a two hour practice session in helmets and shoulder pads while filling the rest of their days with meetings and walk-throughs before holding their first full-pad practice on Aug. 11 at 8 p.m., completing their NCAA required 5-day acclimatization period.
Starting on Aug. 12, the team will conduct two practices daily at 6 a.m. and 8 p.m. every other day leading up to an Aug. 21 intrasquad scrimmage. Single day practices are scheduled for 8 p.m. and are open to the public.
With classes beginning on August 23, the Red Storm will then enter their regular game-week preparation schedule leading up to the team's season opener traveling to Adams State College (Colo.) on Aug. 28 at noon.
