Most educators I know (bartenders, former nuns and former-nun bartenders) applaud a New Jersey school district decision to drop the D exam grade — D standing for DUH.

The D was always that precarious territory between the mediocre C and the pathetic loser F — unless he happens to be a star athlete.

The idea is to go directly from a C to an F without stopping at D. Passing grades may vary from school to school under the Leave No Parents Unconfused plan.

I won't say I got a lot of D's as a kid — but I am applying to my old high school for an upgrade.
