WEST VALLEY CITY — Lightning caused a number of power outages Monday morning as a thunderstorm rolled across the Wasatch Front.

About 2,100 homes in West Valley City lost power in two separate outages caused by the storm, said Rocky Mountain Power spokesman Dave Eskelsen. Power was restored by about 7:45 a.m.

In Layton, more than 1,750 homes were in the dark until about 7:45 a.m.

Around 9 a.m., about 500 customers were still without power, Eskelsen said.
