I have sent a request to Sen. Luz Robles asking her to explain her guest worker program. For more than 20 years, there have been seasonal worker visas available for immigrants who pay a fee to come to America to work in food service, construction and agricultural markets. It surprises me that so many people believe that a guest worker program is a new idea.

The problems with these visas have been the government's inability to keep track of H-2 visa holders and make sure that they return to their countries after their visas expire. They have simply overstayed their visas and make up a large number of the illegal immigrants who reside in the United States today. Any new guest worker program will simply be the same old story.

If more Americans did their research on the amount of immigrants who are allowed into our country to work and the programs already in place, they would see that no new programs are needed, only enforcement of existing programs.
