MCCOY HILL, Jordan, football: This senior has picked up right where Alex Hart left off.

Hill has the upstart Beetdiggers off to a 2-0 start early this season as he's among the state leaders in passing yards and TDs.

In Jordan's 42-18 win over Layton last Friday, Hill completed 12 of 32 passes for 274 yards and three touchdowns. The week before in a 27-17 win over Fremont he completed 15-of-30 passes for 243 yards and two touchdowns.

Hill has proven himself to be just as effective with his legs. He rushed for 77 yards against Fremont and then 110 yards against Layton.

KIM DAHL, Pleasant Grove, volleyball: There isn't much this junior outside hitter can't do on a volleyball court.

"She was definitely the go-to hitter," said Vikings head coach Jamie Schapper of Dahl's performance at the Rocky Mountain Classic this weekend. "She's a very dynamic player; she can hit from the front row or the back row. She's a very smart, strategic player about her game."

Dahl has already verbally committed to play for BYU and is one of three returning starts for the Vikings who won the 5A state title last season. In addition to being a team leader, she is an honor student and beloved by her teammates.

"She's a very fun person to watch," said Schapper. "The girls love her. She leads them by example. She is always willing to support them and encourage them."
