Utah vs. Pittsburgh — Jan. 1 2005

Before a crowd of 73,819 at Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe, the Utes pretty much dominated from start to finish in rolling to a 35-7 victory at the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl.

Utah started a bit slow, but got going with a 4-yard touchdown run by Quinton Ganther late in the first quarter. A 6-yard pass from Alex Smith to John Madsen in the second quarter made it 14-0 at halftime.

Then the Utes broke it open in the third quarter, scoring on three straight drives as Smith threw touchdown passes to Marty Johnson and two to Paris Warren, the second on a memorable hook-and-ladder involving Steve Savoy. Pitt's only score came late in the third quarter. There was no scoring in the fourth quarter. The Utes rolled up 467 total yards compared to 268 for Pitt.
