OREM — A Springville man was killed following a four-car collision that sent one vehicle over a jersey barrier Tuesday morning.

The accident happened in the northbound lanes of I-15 just before 7 a.m. near Geneva Road overpass in Orem. An Orem woman was changing lanes on northbound I-15 but went too far and hit the left side and tire of a northbound semitrailer, said Utah Highway Patrol trooper Todd Johnson. Her vehicle spun to its left in front of the semi and was broadsided by a truck. The car continued to lose control and smacked into a van on the far left lane.

"That van lost control, went to the right side of the structure and went over the jersey barrier. It landed down below just west of Geneva road. The van landed on its top," he said.

The driver of the van, Daniel Solis, 47, was declared dead at the scene.

The semi also lost control after being hit and the left side of its trailer hit the truck.

The accident happened in a construction zone. The Orem driver, Nancy Thacker, had minor injuries and was taken to Timpanogos Hospital. She was not been cited but troopers say they're continuing to investigate the crash.

The drivers of the other vehicles were not injured.
