McGrath, Jr.

1942 ~ 2010

James John McGrath, Jr., died on August 3,2010, in Salt Lake City, Utah, due to respiratory failure. He was born October 8, 1942, to James J. McGrath and May Becker McGrath. He is survived by his twin sister, Marnie McGrath Enke, her husband, Alan, his nieces and nephew, Meagan, Erin, Liesel and Andrew, his uncles John McGrath and Harold Siegel, and many cousins in New Jersey, New York and Toronto, Canada.

Jimmy attended elementary school in New Jersey and high school in New Hampshire where he graduated from Laconia High School in 1960. He was on the ski team in high school and in college where he participated in ski jumping. He attended the University of New Hampshire and Brigham Young University where he studied chemical engineering. He worked for Patterson Chemical Labs and Metcome Chemical Company in New Jersey. In the late 1960's and the early 1970's, he worked at the Nevada Test Site near Las Vegas. He spent 17 years as a manager at Patterson Shade Company in New Jersey. In 1988, he was employed by the National Park Service where he participated in the coordination of the fire fighting activities at Yellowstone Park. Jimmy was a wonderful cook and his homemade meatballs were his specialty.

Jimmy struggled with health problems the last 20 years of his life but he never complained. He always had a deep and abiding faith in the Savior to help him through his illnesses.

The family would like to express its gratitude to Dr. Crossnos, RN Cindy, and many others at the Respiratory ICU at Intermountain Medical Center for the loving care given to Jimmy in his last days.

Funeral Services will be held at the Butler Stake Center located at 7035 South Nutree (3255 East) on Friday, August 6, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation that morning at the church from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment will be at Wasatch Law Cemetery.
